Riftwar

I was part of the visual development team that brought concepts for Riftwar. The Riftwar Saga is a seminal 1980s epic fantasy series by Raymond E. Feist that chronicles a decade-long war between the fantasy world of Midkemia and the alien Empire of Kelewan, connected by a magical, dimensional rift. It follows protagonist Pug, an orphan who becomes a powerful magician, as the two worlds clash.

In this role, I supported the visual development through:

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and refine the pitch deck.
  • Design title treatments that aligned with the project’s aesthetic.
  • Conceptualize and develop the emblems for the fantasy realm, enhancing the visual identity.

Title Treatment

I helped develop the title treatment for Riftwar by researching high-fantasy references, sketching multiple concepts with ornate lettering and mystical motifs, collaborating with key stakeholders for feedback, and finalizing polished designs that reflected the epic scope and visual identity of the fantasy realm.

Two Dragons

The team wanted to incorporate two dragons, which I integrated into the title treatment to enhance the high-fantasy aesthetic and strengthen the visual identity of Riftwar.

House Sigils

Over time in the saga, Elvandar evolves from a hidden mystical forest realm into a historically significant elven capital tied to the deeper origins of the elves and their connection to the ancient Valheru.

Elvandar Rank System

In the world of Riftwar, the Elvandar insignias are a fascinating piece of elven magic tied to the eledhel (elves) of The Riftwar Cycle by Raymond E. Feist. These insignias are used to reflect lineage, authority, and magical standing.

The Elvandar Language

Some exploration of what could potentially be the written language of the elves of Elvandar in The Riftwar Cycle.
